Originally practiced by women in rural Bengal and Odisha, Kantha was used to create blankets.
Everyone knows about Kantha embroidery from Bengal, where a simple running stitch is used to create intricate motifs that include geometric patterns, animals, human figures, mythological stories, and motifs from nature.
Kantha is one of the oldest folk art of India used to be done by the village women in their leisure time made from old, The Kantha embroidery is often used as a medium of cultural and religious importance under the influence of Hinduism.
