Understanding your linen

A set of questions & answers to guide you through the world of Pure Linen

Linen is a type of fabric that is made from the fibers of the flax plant. The flax plant is grown specifically for its fibers, which are then processed and woven into fabric. Linen is known for its strength, durability, and luxurious feel, making it an ideal choice for clothing, bedding, and other household items. To know more Click Here

The term LEA actually comes from old French, where the word lea means unit of length. This is a count of linear density, which is how thickness or fineness of a fabric is measured. If one were to define this in more simple terms, the LEA count indicates the number of units of yarn, in one pound of the total weight of that yarn. Another method of calculation is this – the number of yards in a pound of linen, which is then divided by 300.

We use the following lea count :-

  • We use 25s Lea for our Bottoms and our Jackets
  • We use 60s & 45s Lea for our Shirts/T-shirts.
  • We have 80s Lea, 100s Lea, 150s Lea available as fabric for gifting.
